Reply with quote | #1 | I have a question. I am starting to see operators design their production casing to include a small section of (approx. 400') of 9 7/8 Cr-13. I have only seen this on lower Tertiary subsalt wells, such as the wilcox trend wells. Most of the time they are setting it in cement and do not care if bite marks are put on the pipe during make-up and handling, however we have done a couple of jobs where they required non-marking equipment. Why is chrome present in this casing string? Is it because of high CO2 content combined with high temperatures? Just curious. |

Reply with quote | #2 | It's been a while since I saw it and I was fairly new so just because I thought I understood it doesn't necessarily mean I did. The operator ran casing like that to cover sour zones, I guess for corrosion. But like I say, I was new and it had nothing to do with my job so I don't know if I fully understood what I saw and heard. |
